Enjoy a Creative Stay in Rural Sweden

Whether you are a painter, a musician, a writer or a poet The Bergby House and Studio is an ideal place for artists to stay and do creative work. Located in rural Sweden about 90 minutes from Stockholm we offer spacious accommodation and a large studio all set in a beautiful garden. Our aim is to provide simple facilities to allow artists to stay in the area and to experience a new environment and landscape.

Families looking for a creative holiday are very welcome (there is a trampoline in the garden and swimming nearby) as are artist groups or individual artists looking for a self directed residency. Art teachers are also welcome to use the facility to host a course. For those wishing to really immerse themselves in work, longer seasonal stays can be arranged at a reduced rate.

We do not offer tuition, rather we offer solitude and a quiet place to work.

The accommodation is located on the lower floor of a large old wooden house and includes one double room, two singles and space for a sofa bed. Larger groups can be accommodated on request. The large studio is in a lovely old barn and is yours to use as you wish. There are basic tools and workshop facilities with more available for larger projects if needed. Smaller studio spaces can also be arranged in the main house.

"We have been running a regular guest house through airbnb for a few years and also a separate studio and gallery facility in the old barn but recently we decided to combine these two ideas as a way attract fellow artists to the area.

The idea of offering an airbnb with studio came from our own difficulty in finding places to visit where we can also continue our creative practice. There are many lovely places that offer painting holidays with tuition but not so many places that simply offer studio facilities at a reasonable price....but its also great for the area to have artists visiting and working."
